FAQs

How old do you have to be?

We pierce infants as young as 3 months old, and firmly believe you’re never too old to make room on your ear for more jewelry!  All are welcome.  However, for children under the age of 6, we require an appointment so that we can pierce both ears at the same time.

What is your process?

After filling out your consent form and selecting your earrings, you’ll be ready to go! First, we clean your ears with alcohol. Then, we use a vegetable-based non-toxic ink to draw tiny dots on the ear(s). The dotting takes the longest part of the appointment, as we may need to adjust the placement multiple times before they are perfect.  Before piercing, we get final approval of the dots from you. Once approved, we use the traditional piercing gun to pierce the ear. The mechanism uses a sharp earring to pierce the ear directly into the backing, so the actual piercing part of the appointment only takes a second!

How do I take care of them?

After piercing, you will need to leave your piercing studs in for 6-8 weeks. During this time, you will clean your ears twice daily by pouring the solution (included with piercing fee) onto the front and back of the piercing.  For cartilage piercings, in some cases this healing period may last up to 6 months, as it is more difficult for that part of the body to heal.

Can I swim after?

Absolutely! Just give your ears an extra cleaning afterwards.

What kind of earrings do you use?  Do I get to choose?

We use piercing studs (sorry, no hoops) from a British manufacturer called Caflon, a gold standard in the industry.  All earrings use medical grade surgical steel, some plated with 24 karat gold.  We have 23 earrings to choose from, including every birthstone color, cubic zirconia, pearl, and plain balls.

How much does it cost?

$39.99, which includes the earrings, cleaning solution, and all taxes.

How long do you wear your piercing studs?

At LEAST 6 weeks. 8 weeks is better.

How long does it take?

We can do everything we need to do in 5-10 minutes.  We recommend allowing 15 minutes for the service so you have time for photos, can take your time picking the earrings, and have time to ask us any questions.

Do I need an appointment?

An appointment simply means that we will have two technicians on hand so that both ears can be pierced simultaneously. We find that most children under the age of 6 need both ears done simultaneously in order to have a positive experience and thus require appointments for children under the age of 6. For children over 6 we handle it on a case by case basis, but still recommend an appointment for children under the age of 10.  Other than that, if you’re or your child is ok having one ear done at a time, we are happy to see you whenever is convenient for you, no appointment or warning needed!

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

No problem - life happens! We simply ask that if your plans change you let us know. It’s just the right thing to do - someone is planning on coming in just for you!

Does it hurt?

A little! The feeling is very similar to snapping your wrist with a rubber band.
